here's an ad for Clipper Tea that i worked on at Aardman, directed by Tim Ruffle. About a cup of tea that wants to join the dance but can't seem to find an ingredient to dance with.
I did the animatic and some animation. Duncan Beedie and Tom Malins also worked on it.
i'm drinking some free Clipper Tea right now, it's nice

Flipnote Monsters
Been doing a bit more animation work on the Nintendo DSi with Tim Ruffle. This was a competition where people can send in their monster designs and the ones that are picked get to fight against Bad Egg - a character designed by Andrew Rae.
Mr Nose Moustache is my favourite, here he is below fighting against Monster Root and then there's Gurgles fighting Mudd.
all 5 can be watched here - http://flipnote.hatena.com/97105970AA34FFA4@DSi/
we were on XL's this time which have a bigger screen. good!

Upfest!
Spent Saturday at Upfest at the Tobacco Factory, me and Seb got to sit in the illustration room upstairs and do some live animation. 6 hours to move stuff about a bit
perhaps we should have planned it a bit better but it was good fun anyway and there was some lovely illustration going on all around us.
things get less animated towards the end, as we started drinking after lunch.
thanks very much to Dave Bain for letting us join the illustration room for the day!

Aardman Flipnote animations
Here's a couple of little animations drawn into Flipnote on the Nintendo DSi. They were made before christmas at Aardman, directed by Tim Ruffle, to advertise the Legend of Zelda game. It's wierd spending a few weeks drawing things on a very very tiny screen with a very very tiny pen but quite good fun in a strange kind of way.
My favourite bit was recording the sound effects by going "3..2..1..go" and holding the DS near a speaker while the sound man presses play on his computer.

julian wins massive award!
no he doesn't, don't be ridiculous.
But he did get a special little commendation, more of a mention really, at Animated Exeter's Screen Out Loud event
which is as good as it's going to get!
Very big congratulations to Emma who did actually win a Massive Award and who won the bloody Screen Out Loud thing too!

gencat ad
Here's an ad i've recently been working on at Aardman. There's 5 of them altogether and they've been turning up on the blogs of Felix, Robin and Spencer so i thought i'd put my favourite up too.
This ones about recycling if you don't understand Spanish.
I did storyboard and block through, Tom Evans animated, Spencer Cross After Effectsed and Tim Ruffle directed.
Here's another one - same bunch of people, animated by me and Tom - use public transport!

ringbinders
recently been working as animation goblin on Ringbinders for Aardman and Comedy Demon. Directed by Tom Parkinson who made the Adventures of Jeffrey!
Comedy Demon's embedding thing doesn't work for me properly and there's also an Alfa Romeo advert attached which i'm not a massive fan of. so here's the trailer instead, which i had almost nothing to do with. You can watch the film here though if you like - http://www.comedydemon.com/video/?vid=11491
by the way, notice the lovely title music done by Rumpus' very own Alex Lupo!

back to work
had a few weeks away from Rumpus whilst making a couple of shorts at Wonky Films for the 4mations website. it was good fun, they'll be online in November. the series is called Suburban Myths by the way. Miki Cash from Wonky directed the first two and i did the second two.
but back to Rumpus now. Animatic's gone to Alex the musician and i'm going to draw some backgrounds for a few weeks - hopefully with the help of Seb.
and here's a little running monster.
